Here at Mathssolutions.ie we are organising Maths Grinds Revision Courses for January and February 2021 in-house and on-line for both Junior Cert and Leaving Cert . The courses will comprehensively cover key topics with a sharp focus on covering exam style questions, making sure that each student gets the best possible grade in their exam. These classes will be taught by experienced teachers who have taught at both Secondary and Third level. The classes will be delivered, in strict adherence with up to date public health advice and guidance on COVID 19 restrictions issued from the Department of Education and Skills. Can Maths Grinds help me?
Different students need Maths Grinds for different reasons; some students just need a few hours to prepare for an exam. Others need ongoing weekly support on one-to-one or small groups to help them through a maths class. While some students need to get over line and score an O6/O5 grade and some are trying to get H1 as they are need them for CAO points (If you receive a H6 grade or higher in Higher Level Mathematics, you add 25 bonus points to the CAO points for the grade you achieved in Mathematics). With some advice and guidance you can achieve your maximum result in maths. However, if the student is unwilling to take advice and not put in the work then I’m afraid grinds are not the answer.

Bio: Dr Brendan Lydon has taught at both second and third levels for the past 25 years. He has over 20 years’ experience in senior management, being a Principal of two Secondary Schools and a senior member of the management team that was seconded by the Department of Education and Skills to set up the National Behaviour Support Service. He has vast experience in education and working with teachers and students in supporting them in fulfilling their potential. In more recent years, Dr Lydon has examined the student focused approach in the teaching of mathematics. His major concern was that nearly 3,800 students who sat mathematics for their Leaving Cert in 2019 did not achieve a pass grade. On average over the past five years approximately 7% of students failed maths in their Leaving Cert. The students who failed their Leaving Cert maths papers, effectively locking them out of many third-level courses which require a pass as a basic entry requirement. That is the main driving force behind setting up MathsSolutions.ie
